Did You SEE That?

Sometimes I wish... there was a video camera in my eye. Wouldn't that be neat? It would just automatically record everything you see so you could show everyone else. "Did you see that?" "No..." "Well look at this video I just captured with my eye!" Yeah buddy.

Weird story for the day... As we were pulling up the driveway, there was a little brown bird sitting in the middle of the driveway, up to its.. um.. body in a muddy puddle. I thought it was another rescue! So I lept out of the truck and hurried up to rescue it.. Only just as I closed in, it flew off! Drat. I got back into the truck, and Shane, laughing, announced that I am the best rescuer in the world, because every animal heals automatically at my attempted intervention. Har har. So we went up to the house, and a little bit later Shane was trying to build a fire and he yelled for me to come to the room, and I opened the door, and there was that SAME BIRD FLYING INSIDE THE ADDITION! It finally perched on a 2x4 above the open door, and I picked up a board and held it up, and the danged thing stepped over onto the board. So I carried it, on the board, outside. It hopped down a few steps towards me. Twisted its little head this way and that. Stared at me. Stared at Shane. Then flew off. Not a half hour later, it was standing in a mud puddle ten feet from the door, just hopping about minding its own business. Why is this all so strange? For one, I have NEVER seen a bird out here before. Except for owls and hawks, I never have. For two, it acts almost domesticated! For three, it doesn't look like any bird I've ever seen. I mean, it must be some kind of sparrow? But very very odd. I should have gotten a photo, but it was just all so weird.... And cool.

Tomorrow I guess we are going to Nashville, and then we are going to Clarksville for Shane's claims. Among other plans, we need to pick up another few bags of sweet feed (Peaches is such a pig), we need some wire for a new rabbit hutch, we need a new memory card reader, and..... Shane wants to cash a check. Also he is going to look for a little trinket shop he can put some of his furniture in on consignment. It's supposed to be back up to 75 tomorrow and sunny! Wow.

I have been using meebo lately... I have chatted with a few people from my old life. It reminds me of a few things... 1) I do still think useless boys are kind of cute... and 2) I am so glad I didn't marry one. Ha!

Funny story from last night. Around 11:30 pm, Shane mumbles in his sleep, "Struggling to get old" and then splutters himself awake, rolls over, sits up on his elbow, looks at me. I said, "You just said--" and he said "I know! I was telling you about my dream, but then I realized I was still asleep." And he lays down and in a moment is sleeping again. That guy.
