Does It Bother You At All?

Driving around today, I passed a volunteer fire department with beautiful brand new vinyl fencing surrounding it. This bothers me. Shane & I are cutting down trees and he is sawing them into boards so we can have a fence, because vinyl is, at its best, almost $5/ft, and there is no way we can afford that. However, the volunteer fire department, who doesn't even NEED a fence, can take my tax dollars and pay $5/ft for nice white vinyl fencing, and even pay to have it installed, I'm sure. I wish I could keep my tax dollars and have a fence put up for myself, thanks much.

Speaking of taxes, coming home from Clarksville I pass through the local housing development, which is basically the "free" housing for welfare recipients. I despise driving through this section of town, where people don't work and live for free, yet they have brand new vehicles with fancy rims and fancy paint jobs, and seeing people dripping in gold and diamonds, and knowing they are selling drugs for cash, claiming zero income on taxes, living for free and spending all their moolah on bling. Gah! I'm not sure if it's something wrong with the system that lets them do it, or it's something wrong with THEM for doing it in the first place. But something is wrong!

In any case... drove up to the land today to get Shane's Garmin so I could go shopping... Was walking across the "yard" where our house will be and where the trailer is... and just about walked smack into the power pole standing there. Looked up.. and up.. and up.. Wow! This is the first exciting thing that has happened for me. The power pole! Right there!

Shane worked on my pastures today... There will be three of them! Ranging in size from 1 acre to 3 acres each... One is technically for Shane's alpacas *rolls eyes* But the other two are for my horses.

Another nice segue.. Speaking of horses... Some lady called me yesterday and wanted to buy Peaches! It was very bizarre, but I told her how much I would *have* to get for her and she said she would pay that much.. so I met her out there last night... She had fed me some line about how she had "x" amount of years of horse experience, she is with some therapeutic riding program in town, they need a draft horse for their bigger clients, etc etc... So anyway.. When she came up, Kathy & I had Amauvia and Peaches both tied up so Amauvia wouldn't get in the way when they were looking at/riding Peaches. The ladies couldn't tell them apart. They kept referring to Amauvia as a "draft" even after I corrected them. The one lady finally got up the nerve to get up on Peaches and was so terrified she got right back down. After bragging that she had ridden horses "far larger" than Peaches. Poor Peaches had no idea what to think, but I could tell she did not like the lady one bit. She stood there like a dear, though. Anyway, I really felt like saying, "I'm sorry you came all the way out here, but I'm just not interested in selling my horse to you after all.." because I got such a bad impression of them. But I couldn't bring myself to say it.. and luckily, they were too scared of her anyway. So that was interesting.

It's funny.. cause the whole time I was waiting for them... I was half thinking what I would spend the money on.. and half hoping to God they just wouldn't show up so I could keep Peaches. Funny, isn't it?
